What to type for IP

Samuelsamuel asked 1 year ago

Hello! 🙂

I was able to open the port 8080 on my router for my NVR. When I checked on the website "canyouseeme" it said my ports were open. I do not want to use a DNS service, is there any way for me to just type in my ip address to see the cameras on the NVR? Also what ip do I type in exactly? Because if every linksys routers ip is 192.168.1.1 how do I distinguish mine?

Thank you all for any help in advance!

Thanks for your question Samuelsamuel.

The IP 192.168.1.1 is the default INTERNAL IP Address for most Linksys Routers.

To access your NVR from inside your home, you would use http://192.168.1.100:8080 assuming the NVR's INTERNAL IP Address is 192.168.1.100 and it is set to listen on port 8080.

To access the NVR from somewhere other then home, you need to forward the port, 8080, in the router to the INTERNAL IP of the NVR. Then from an outside location type http://:8080. The address would be formatted the same as the INTERNAL address but the 192.168.1.100 would be replaced with your EXTERNAL IP, the IP you get from our home page.
