VPN and a Proxy?

D C asked 2 years ago

I am using a VPN app on my phone. When I check the IP address, it seems fine, however I check to see if there is a proxy, and there IS one. DHC type, I think. Should this be like this? If there is a proxy, I’m assuming that my connection is not secure? Thanks for any help.

I suppose a VPN service could force a proxy connection. Not sure why they would do that though. Your best bet would be to contact their support and confirm. If there is a proxy in place within their system, this doesn't necessarily mean your connection isn't secure.

What is a DHC type proxy?

I think you can always change it in the browser setting. Which VPN are you using?

I think the user meant DHCP?

Micky Salamon answered 2 years ago

I don't think proxy is related to DHCP. Proxy server is usually a fixed server IP address.
Does he mean DCH (data center range) as frequently found in the geolocation database like IP2Location?

Right, if the user confirmed they meant DHCP, I was going to explain the lack of relation between the two. Perhaps you're correct with DCH...that would make a lot more sense. : )
