Trace an e-mail from Yahoo

wimiadmin Staff asked 3 years ago

I did a test this morning from my Yahoo account sent via the web to my Gmail account. When viewing the message header, about 3/4 of the way down, I see a line that says:

Received: from [xx.xx.xx.xx] by via HTTP;

The IP in brackets is my home IP address.

Looks like the originating IP can be traced in Yahoo mail.

Hi I have just joined this site. I have tried to trace an email on Yahoo using the instructions including Yahoo! - Right click the note and choose View Full Headers but have had no joy. When I wroght click the note there is a box that comes up with various features but nothing that even resembles View Full Headers. Can you assist me please? What am I doing wrong.

Kind regards

IP's and email addresses removed by shnerdly.

This what i got from viewing the full headers and it all says it from United states somewhere. If i send a email from a gmail account to another gmail account is is a 100% that it can't be traced or is there some or other way to get it traced without getting the police etc involved? Please help?

Yes, it looks like Yahoo! email is traceable. I copy and paste the email header and paste it into free tracer at and I can see sender's IP address and server routing information from sender to my Yahoo! server.
