Trace a closed Yahoo email

Odette asked 2 years ago

I want to know whether tracing a yahoo email id - not the email message - will be of any help? As far as I can figure, the account has been deactivated for a couple of months. Since this is rather important for me, I'm willing to take cyber police's help. But only if there'd be any use of tracing the email id

Tracing an ID? As in who used it? Probably not much use in that.

I've used free ID's in the past as test beds for this or that email function that I was trying out. And shared the login with other folks who were working with me.

Yahoo tracks IP Addresses of logins, I believe. I don't know how long they retain those logs if an ID is closed out, though.

You *might* be able to subpoena those logs. If what was done does not rise to the level of a crime, then the police may not help.
