Spam has my address in return address

rickwm asked 2 years ago

I am receiving a spam email every day which indicates it is from myself - it has my address as the return address. According to the headers, it seems to be originating from an IP in Mumbai, India. Some of my friends are receiving it as well. How do I stop these spam messages from being generated? Just knowing they are originating in India doesn't seem to help much. I am in the US.

You probably can't stop the email from coming in. But, you can copy the header information and send that to your email provider along with the email.

Most companies offer [email protected] to their customers for reporting such issues. So if your provider is Comcast, you would email [email protected] or [email protected]. You'll need to go to your ISPs website to find out how to report spam.
