Security DVR Router Setup

larry larry asked 3 years ago

I just upgraded from a Linksys wrt310 router to a
Linksys E4200 router. Everythin works well except for my Security DVR. I copied all the settings from the WRT310 router to the new E4200 router. Double checked it many times. Port forwarded the DVR as before. Even swapped out the E4200 in case it was defective. Still cannot get access to the DVR from another network. I can however access it from my local network. The DVR is a Swann DVR8-AI8500. If I put the old WRT310 router back in everything works fine. Can someone point me in the direction of where I might look to solve this problem. Thanks

The only thing I can offer is to be sure you have forwarded the correct port numbers in TCP or UDP whichever they require.

Also, the Router is usually the DHCP server so make sure the DVR is at the address your forwarding the ports to. For example, the old Router may have had it at 192.168.1.10 while the new router might have it at 192.168.0.100 so forwarding the ports to 192.168.1.10 is not going to work.

Here is a link to an Open Source IP Scanner. You can use this to determine what IP address the DVR is at.
