I am looking at getting a PTZ camera and have been told that I will need an RS 232 to RS 485 converter but when you look for these there are so many different types. I want to place the converter / PZT camera on to a PC computer but I do not and can not find the correct converter to use, can any one please help me with this.
The computer is as follows:-
System Type: X86-based PC
Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5 GenuineIntel ~3192 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date: Intel Corp. TCIBX10H.86A.0037.2010.0614.1712, 14/06/2010
Total Physical Memory: 4,096.00 MB
Hard Drive: 1Tb
And an 8ch pci video capture card
The software I have been told will control the PZT but I need the converter also.
Brokenwing
Hi brokenwing....thanks for your question.
In my research, there are a ton of PTZ cameras that connect via CAT5, USB, or Wifi and are controlled by software that usually comes with the cameras.
Here are some examples:
Example 1 - CAT5
Example 2 - Wifi
Example 3 - USB Webcam w/PTZ
So with these and other options, I'm not sure why you would want to use RS232, or any other type of connector.
