Probably daft question on IP search

Chipthedog asked 2 years ago

When I use whatismyip.com to get my own IP and then click "lookup" on it, the next page shows two locations side by side.

Sometimes the location is like 5 miles away and sometimes it is 15 miles away - but always from my ISP. The other location is my own.

What do the two maps represent??

The results on the left are from www.ip2location.com and the results on the right are from www.ipaddresslabs.com.

We show 2 different sources simply to show the accuracies or inaccuracies of each database. This just gives you more information from our website vs. having to go to different websites. 🙂
