New Tablet

jimnlorri asked 3 years ago

I cannot get our new tablet to connect to our home wireless network. Everytime it says it's trying to obtain ip address, it says unsuccessful.

How do I know if the wireless is a WEP or a 802 something?

If you have another machine, like a laptop, that is connected to your wireless network, then you can look at its stored settings to determine the security type.

Alternatively, you can log into the router and check the security settings directly on the device. If you're unsure how to do that, you'll need to enter the router's IP address in your address bar of your browser. To get that, run ipconfig/all from the command prompt. The default gateway IP is usually your router's IP.

Maybe your tablet doesn't support the security type that your router is set for- very possible.

That's what happened to me with my Skytex Alpha android, but I just kept turning it on and off since it would say connecting and unable to and then keeps doing that. It happens with many medium to low end android 2.3 tablets.
