My email account may have been hacked

Jose Lawrence asked 3 months ago

Hello. I believe my email may have been hacked and some emails were sent from my account that I personally did not send.  Is there anyway to trace or track from what device and or ip address this was done from. Is there a professional service available for this. Thank you

It depends on what email service you use. If you use gmail, you should be able to login and see IP address activity. Run the IP through our IP Address Lookup tool to find more info/geo information. https://www.whatismyip.com/ip-address-lookup/

It's also possible that your email was spoofed vs. hacked. Someone could simply manipulate their email software to say you were the sender. This is much easier than hacking your actual email account. However, if the messages you didn't send are in your sent box, then either your account was hacked, OR malicious software got installed on your computer that is auto sending email.
