I unplugged my modum over night and got what I think is a new IP address. What I want to know is do all the numbers change or just the last six? I keep getting the same 5 numbers, then 6 different numbers, so does this mean I have a new IP address?

Thanks for your question taybey.
The IP address is made up of, what are called octets. That's four sets of numbers from 0 to 255 with each set separated by a . If any single digit changes, that is a different IP address. In your case, the first two octets define, in part, the subnet or CIDR block of addresses your ISP has available.
