IP address webmasters

Hi,
I was wondering if you visit a website and leave a comment, can the webmaster find your ip address and then your home address and host?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by host. You mean like your Internet provider? Like Comcast, Time Warner, or AT&T?

Most software *does* have the ability to locate your IP, unless you're going through an anonymous proxy. And once someone has your IP Address, then that address is assigned to your Internet Provider via the worldwide network of Internet registrars all managed and regulated (sort of) by [url=http://www.icann.org/]the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers[/url] (ICANN). So in that sense, yes, your IP Address and host can be found. Your physical address? It's possible, but highly improbable, and I'm not aware of a legal way to do it. The IP Address you have when you visit the Internet is assigned to the Internet provider, not to the individual (I think this is true even in the case of statically assigned IP's). So a lookup of the IP will reveal only the information for whom the IP Address is assigned. That's not likely to be you.
