I think I cracked the case…

SusieQz123 asked 2 years ago

So, I have been getting stalker-ish emails (very sexual and graphic and sometimes scary) from someone for a while. I could never figure out who it was, and it was giving me the creeps.

The person stopped emailing for a while and then started up again the other day. Well, a few minutes after I got an email from the stalker, I got an email from a "friend" I haven't spoken to in a long time. He's a guy who fixed my laptop off of Craigslist.

I thought...I wonder if this is the same person....and I looked at the IP addresses both from the "stalker" and the "friend." It was the x-originating ip. Both were the same!

I am pretty sure that the "friend" is my stalker, but I wasn't sure if the x-originating ip is enough to go on. Couldn't it be the same just because they're both hotmail accounts.

Thanks for any help. I have been very uneasy over this whole mess.

Thanks for your question SusieQz123.

If you go here and input the IP address that the two email share, it will show you who actually "owns" the IP more or less. If it's something other then Microsoft or Hotmail, such as Comcast, CenturyLink, Verizon or some other ISP, I would think it could be used to identify the senders as being the same or at least using the same Internet connection.
