My problem is my connection goes up and down. Its extremely fast for a few min. then it is painfully slow.
Time Warner cable is my service provider.
I have a desktop PC (vista) wired to my router, and have a laptop (windows 7) running wireless, and a PS3 running wireless. I have had it set up this way for a couple years with no problems.
One day I noticed that my connection was getting slower and figured my router was dying. I bought a brand new Linksys N router and couldn't believe how much faster it was after I hooked it up. 20min later it was as slow as it has ever been. Its the same problem on the wired desktop and wireless laptop
I hooked my computer directly to the modem and left it that way for an hour with it never slowing down.
If I restart the router its fast, but only takes 10min for it to slow down again.
I have been on the phone with Linksys and Netgear (my old router) and they cant help me.
Wow...this is a tough one.
First thing I would do is shut down the laptop and the PS3 and monitor the connection with only the desktop. If all seems fine after 20 mins, then crank up the laptop. If all seems fine after 20 mins, crank up the PS3.
I'm guessing it's one of your devices with some sort of background program running that's slowing things down....but that's just a guess for now.
I doubt 2 routers would cause the same problem.
