Fake business listings

Natalie longfellow asked 2 months ago

Hello. I own a local small business. Another local competitor's wife ( I know who it is) is making fake business listings on free business listing sights in our business name. I have been changing them for years. I'm tired. Is there anyway too find out the IP address of the creator so there is proof. The last listing was on EZlocal. It was embarrassing. I reached out to them but haven't heard back.

I'm sure this is beyond annoying. The only real way to find out the IP address of the device from which the accounts are being created is to ask the websites where the account resides (EZlocal for example). Unfortunately, they're most likely not going to provide the IP without a subpoena.

I'm not really sure how to combat this issue. I suppose you could get ahead of the game and create your own listings on these sites before who you suspect creates an account for you.
