I have been receiving emails from a yahoo account to my hotmail account for 2 years now.
Due to things not adding up, and knowing where the person was supposed to be (initially in UK and then for year and half in the US) I decided to check on the IP address.
Using IP locating tools it would appear that all the emails (including a couple from other people) come from the same IP address which is in the UK.
(someone extremely close to me)
On the face of things it looks or has been made to look as though he has assumed someones identity and played a very long 2yr joke on me.
Or is it possible for someone to hack into my hotmail and change the IP of saved emails..
Please can you give me advice.
Thanks for your question pdutt1.
When people login to email services through their Internet Browser, their real IP address may not show up at all in an email. It may just show the IP of the email service server that they used. It depends on the email service they are using.
Also consider that many people use anonymous IP services which mask their real IP. Any emails sent through a Browser using one of these services would probably show many different IP's for the same user.
